A Round Up Of RHS Chelsea 2022

This year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show was a landmark event for us, celebrating our 60th year at the show as well as our 70th year in business. Convivial vibes and a passion about all that grows were very much the themes of our stand, with visitors impressed by both our Chambers and Masson Greenhouses from our Kew Gardens collection, as well as our beautiful edible oasis. The plants provided by Pennard Plants and mused by garden expert Mark Diacono were incredibly popular and offered a unique sensory experience for those that visited the stand.

Expert Collaborations

With 20 years of Chelsea experience, Pennard Plants displayed their heritage and heirloom seeds as a part of the UK’s largest selection of edible plants. RHS “Master Grower” recipients, Pennard brought to our stand a wonderful array of edible plants, including Pineapple Sage, Strawberry Mint and the show-goer favorite of the week, Sambucas Nigra Black Lace.

Alongside Pennard and Diacono, we collaborated with both THE PIG Hotels and Lamb & Newt to create a beautifully elegant setting inside both our glasshouses on display. The Chambers Greenhouse, ornamented with plot-to-plate accessories, provided an insight into owning a gardener’s greenhouse that is purpose built to provide the perfect growing environment. THE PIG Hotels are specialists in homegrown menus, with ingredients sourced from a 25-mile radius to their location and often grown in-house. The Chelsea Chambers brought this ideology to life. Our Masson Greenhouse took a different direction, with the motif being a social paradise for hosting with décor sourced by Lamb and Newt and accompanying cocktails by The Pig. The botanical bar was the center of attention, providing convivial vibes all week long.

Adventurous Joinery by Oli Carter

As a center piece of our stand, joinery expert Oli Carter provided us with ‘Bodelia’, a table so magnificent it became a constant talking point across the week of Chelsea. A single plank of Cedar of Lebanon, with charred edges and accompanying Burnt Ash stools provided a platform for conversation, with both Alitex representatives and visitors alike feeling at home talking gardens and glasshouses whilst sat at Bodelia. This table, alongside its sister table, are just two of four Cedar of Lebanon planks acquired by Oli, so anticipate more beautifully crafted pieces from the expert joiner.

Celebrating our 5-star stand

If 60 years at Chelsea and 70 years in business wasn’t enough to celebrate, RHS awarded our stand with a Five Star Trade Stand award, a feat accepted with immense gratitude and astounded delight. RHS Chelsea 2022 was a long awaited event, being the first May-time show for two years. The team, alongside our amazingly talented collaborators, took pride in every last detail to make our stand the best it could possibly be. The result of all the hard work was not only recognized by RHS, it was adored by the public. Visitors stepped onto the stand in awe, and left with unique view of the amazing things that can be done with both a greenhouse and it’s surroundings.
